As women, we wear many hats: daughter, friend, professional, wife, mother, creator. With those roles comes a constant stream of messages telling us who we should be, how we should look, and where we fall short.
It’s easy to let the noise of the world become the internal soundtrack of our lives. But what if you replaced those "shoulds" with the "God's truth"?
Biblical affirmations are not about "manifesting" a better life; they are about aligning our thoughts with God’s truth. When we speak these over ourselves, we aren't trying to change God's mind about us—we are changing our minds to match His.

Why Affirmations Must Be Rooted in Scripture
Positive thinking only goes so far. Eventually, our circumstances or our emotions will challenge our "good vibes." However, when your affirmation is rooted in the unfailing Word of God, it becomes an anchor.
"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever." — Isaiah 40:8
God's Word tells us who He is; it tells us about His character. So, when we truly believe that "God is love" (1 John 4:16) and He is sovereign (Isaiah 46:10) our faith and our identity are not based in our circumstance. Our faith and our identity are rooted in the God who is good (Psalm 107:1) and above our current situation.
When we base our affirmations in scripture we can be steadfast, like a tree planted by the water (Jeremiah 17:7-8), because our faith is rooted in God's enduring Word!
God Sees You - El Roi (or El Lahai Roi)
The story of Hagar found in Genesis 16 is a powerful read for women in difficult circumstances. The situation she was in was complicated. Sarah (Sarai) suggested that Abraham (Abram) have a child with her handmaid, Hagar, as a way to fulfill God's promise of making Abraham the father of a nation. So he did. This created tension, jealousy, and a power struggle between the women.
Sarah complains to Abraham about Hagar's behavior, and he tells her to do with Hagar as she pleases (v4-6). Sarah mistreats Hagar in return, and Hagar decides to flee into the wilderness to get away. But this is not a wise decision for a pregnant slave with no resources. The angel of the Lord appears to her and points this out, "Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going? (v8)”
God saw the difficult circumstance of a woman with no good choices and sent her a message of comfort, "the Lord has heard of your misery" (v11). Essentially, God acknowledged that her choice was a measure of abuse or death in the wilderness. In order to encourage her to choose life for her and her unborn child, He offered her a promise (v10-12). Ishmael would not be Abraham's heir of promise, but he would be the first of decedents "too numerous to count."
Encouraged by the promise of her future prosperity, and the care that God showed her in her darkest hour Hagar praised the Lord as, "the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me” (v13).
Life is full of trials that can obscure our ability to see the loving God that walks beside us through it all. We feel alone, and unseen. But, the Bible assures of us that we are seen. If we look to the promises contained in scripture we will, like Hagar, see Him too. He may not take us out of our difficulty, but he promises to see us through it! The following 20 affirmations for women are just a sample of what God's Word promises to us.
Comment "Hagar" if you would like a more thorough explanation of the nuances of her story.
